The setting was amazing and the grounds and gardens beautiful. The architecture was Cape dutch and it had a very rural feel, with chickens running around, ducks swimming in ponds and there was also a swan pool. The outside restaurant had plenty of tables under the trees. It was hard to believe that one was in the middle of town. There was even a hairdresser on site. The pool area was secluded and private. The vegetable and herb garden, called "Kanaän was unique and was a main source for the ingredients used for the menu at the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made one feel at home. The Food at the restaurant was delicious and the menu very unique. The wine selection was also very good. The breakfast was excellent and included in the room price. A great continental breakfast spread was serve daily and for a hot breakfast there was a choice of either farmhouse special (a traditional South African breakfast of eggs, bacon, boerewors and grilled mushrooms and tomato) or a chefs special. These were all delicious, original and prepared well. The breakfast also included a free cappuccino every morning. One could either eat inside in the restaurant or outside under the trees. At night the grounds were lit with fairy lights turning it into a wonderland. The rooms were very spacious and beautifully finished, each with an oriental carpet, works desk, and big closet space. The beds and cushions were very comfortable. Each room had a big bathroom with a shower and free standing tub and Charlotte Rhys amenities. There was a fridge in the room, an electric kettle, and coffee and tea. A really nice touch was the " Tussie Mussie", a fresh herb infusion picked on the day of arrival and to be used in the tub. These kinds of special touches made the stay at Klein Kaap very unique and memorable.

The breakfast buffet was superb! A very wide variety, fresh and everything one could wish for. The gardens and outside setting in the heart of a city is quite exceptional - tranquil and relaxing. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who went out of their way to go the extra mile in more than one way, is more than anything else the reason why I can whole heartedly recommend this hotel.
